State Livestock Show
Dairy Science Club at LSU helps during the Dairy Weekend at the State Livestock Show at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center. Members help in many events such as dairy judging, showmanship judging, and 4H/FFA Dairy Exhibitor Social.
AgMagic
The Dairy Science Club helps the LSU AgCenter host AgMagic at Parker Colesium. Members will volunteer to help by making goody bags, setting up, taking down, giving tours, working stations, and helping with the animals. This is a great way for the club to engage with and educate the youth.
Pet a Calf
The Dairy Store held a pet a calf petting zoo. A Holstein dairy calf "Boots" was kept in a pen for students and the public to come visit and pet. Members of the club also used this time to promote and educate students about the club.
Fundraiser
Game Day Ice Cream Sales
Club members will work 2 hour long shifts on game days. We will sell ice cream cups and water bottles. Ice cream is sold for $8 a cup (about 2-3 scoops) and $2 for a water bottle.
Team Building
Packaging Ice Cream
Club members gather at the LSU Dairy Store to help scoop all of the ice cream that will be sold on game days. We will typically have around 10-12 members at a time each week that we are planning to have a game.
Hay Bale Decorating Contest for Homecoming
Every year for homecoming week, it is LSU tradition that clubs will decorate hay bales at the beginning of the week for judging on Friday morning. The club that wins every year earns bragging rights and a small trophy as their prize. We won 1st place last year and placed 2nd this year. The theme given was 100 years of Tiger Stadium. Members came up with the idea of painting the bale as Tiger Stadium, making ice cream scoops, and candles that say 100.
To celebrate National Grilled Cheese Month we hold a meeting where we make grilled cheese sandwiches. Members can customize their sandwiches with multiple different kinds of cheeses and officers will typically cook them for all members.

Annual Banquet/ Crawfish Boil
Dairy Science Club at LSU hosts an annual banquet to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year. At this event we will give awards to our Outstanding First Year Member, Outstanding Club Member, Outstanding Senior, and Overall GPA. We will also recognize our avisors, outgoing officers, and incoming officers.
Team Building
American Dairy Science Association - Student Affiliate Division
Dairy Science Club at LSU sends students from our club to both regional and national events. We regularly compete in all competitions at these meetings. Last summer 4 members attended the National meeting in West Palm Beach, Florida. This year LSU hosted the Southern Regional ADSA meeting. At the meeting we comepted in all of the categories as well as toured the meat lab, Dairy Store, embryology labs, LSU Tiger Stadium, met with Mike the Tiger's caretakers, listened to guest speaker Anna Ribbeck from the TV show Swamp People, and enjoyed a trip to Global Wildlife. This summer we plan to have 4 members attend the National Convention being held in Louisville, Kentucky.
